Forefront in the Schools continues to support over 50 schools in Washington with their comprehensive suicide prevention efforts. In the 2021-22 school year, over 7,000 individuals participated in Forefront Suicide Prevention LEARN training, and the 2022-23 school year started out strong with training of trainer sessions for educators, parents/caregivers and students in all of the schools in our program, including a session on implementation of our Spanish LEARN pilot training.
We continue to work with both the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the Behavioral Health Navigators housed at each of the 9 Educational Service Districts in Washington state. Through these partnerships, we have been able to take key resources developed for our Forefront in the Schools program and make them available to schools and school districts statewide.
- With OSPI we co-authored the Suicide Postvention Guide for Schools in Washington State (published 2021).
- We also co-authored revisions to the Model District Template: Student Social, Emotional and Behavioral, and Mental Health Recognition, Screening, and Response. (Click here to download directly.)
