Support our innovative programs to reduce suicides in Washington state and across the nation.
Suicide is a public health crisis and a personal tragedy. Every year, thousands of Americans die by suicide, and millions more consider it. The good news is that many suicides can be prevented.
Forefront Suicide Prevention—a center of excellence at the UW School of Social Work—focuses on innovative, evidence-based programming, advocacy and research to reduce suicide in Washington state, particularly among high-risk groups such as veterans and youth.
We have been particularly successful in driving public policy to reduce suicide by providing critical data and advocacy for innovative legislation that serves as a national model for systemic change.
Since its founding in 2013, Forefront has grown into a leading suicide prevention center with support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and federal and state institutions. Today the need is greater than ever, because of the ongoing impact of the COVID pandemic, which has exacerbated the epidemic in mental illness, especially among youth.
