Promising Practices Conference – Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in this week’s Promising Practices conference, the second part in our Reconstructing Resilience series, focused on supporting youth mental health. The day focused on tools and techniques to build resilience in youth, yourself, and others. Our goal with this series is to provide helpful, actionable information for those working with young people, and we are grateful to everyone who is partnering with us on this conference series.

A special thank you to our fantastic and engaging speakers!

Cari McCarty, PhD (UW), Maria Mullaney, MPH (Seattle KC Public Health), and Delaney Knottnerus, LICSW (King County Best Starts for Kids) for sharing information and results from King County’s School-Based SBIRT program (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment). SBIRT is a framework for early identification of kids who may be at risk, and for connecting them with treatment and support.

Jennifer Blossom, PhD (University of Maine) for introducing First Approach Skills Training for Anxiety (FAST-A). This approach teaches techniques to support kids and youth experiencing anxiety, and to help them develop the skills to manage it.

Kira Mauseth, PhD (Astrum Health), our keynote speaker for this series, who spoke about Tips & Tricks for Building Resilience in Yourselves and Others.

Thank you also to Paul Dudley, our warm-hearted and gracious host! It’s a pleasure to work with you.

And finally – we are so grateful to WA Department of Health and Seattle Children’s, for their ongoing relationships with us, and for sponsoring this conference series.
