While the birth of a child is a time of joy and excitement for many, the challenges – both physical and emotional – of adjusting to parenthood, mean this is also a time when mothers and other new parents may be at increased risk of developing anxiety, depressions, PTSD, or even postpartum psychosis. Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that mental health challenges were the leading cause of perinatal maternal death between 2017-2019, and researchers are just starting to understand the impact of mental stress and the risks for suicide in new mothers.

Join us for our one-hour webinar Suicide Prevention & Perinatal Mental Health as we hear from UW faculty, Deborah S. Cowley, M.D. Co-Director, Perinatal Mental Health & Substance Use Education, Research & Clinical Consultation (PERC) Center Medical Director.

This event and the entire Suicide Prevention &… series is presented by Forefront in partnership with the Washington State Department of Health.

This event has been approved for 1 CEU by the Washington Chapter, National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists and Licensed Mental Health Counselors. Our provider number is #1975-473.
